What is Jackson Sullivan up To?

It’s been a little bit since I updated my blog. Here’s what I’ve been up to.

I moved to Austin.

It’s a beautiful city. Totally my type of people. I’ve been slow on making close friends but I’ve noticed the good ones are starting to show through the cracks. Time will tell who I connect with.

I made videos for the guys at Praxis

In December I made this promo for Praxis and it got over 250,000 views and thousands of shares. They asked me for one more and I made four.

So far, my content performs 1,000% better than almost all other shared content.

The amount of positive feedback I got was exhilarating. Tangibly seeing my own ability to create value was amazing in itself. For the first time, I noticed I was equipped with a desirable skill.

I realized a critical skill.

Since the promos, I’ve been hard at work honing mad video skills. I don’t want to just make catchy content. I want to blow competition out of the water. I want to be the best.

I’m learning “kinetic text” and this is what I made on the first day (basic edit).

It’s a start and I’ll soon have a fully fledged promo of this  style.

Tons of businesses are in need of social media tune-ups. Ridiculously engaging content is necessary to reach almost any audience. Mobile and video are the future and businesses need to adopt the new way of engaging if they want to keep up.

I intend to grow and leverage this skill to create opportunities for myself with multiple companies (will update).

I shifted toward a mindset of the unknown.

I was an intense planner not long ago. It was stressful. An abrupt realization turned me around completely. I’ve adopted a mindset of pure spontaneity.

I don’t know where I’ll be in one month and that’s the most exciting thing in the world. I would even argue it’s a critical step for young people to truly discover what makes them come alive.

Had I made a specific plan and “decided” a field of work, I’d never have found video. It’s important to focus on moments but to always be receptive to new ideas. You never know what’ll be just around the corner.

The next six months are huge for my journey. A rocket ship is about to launch. Stay tuned.
