There Should be a Christmas-Like Day Every Quarter

I see Christmas as a societally-respected time to get with people I love, eat good food, and express gratitude.

Most people get the day off without argument and family and friends happily travel across the country to see each other. It works because it’s a designated time each year. It’s more specific than “Lets get together sometime soon!” so everyone makes it where they need to go.

I’d like to make this a quarterly thing. Gathering with people I love is enjoyable enough that it deserves to happen more than once per year. I want people to get off work easily and treat each gathering day as serious as Christmas.

This would benefit society as a whole.

Many people see “the holidays” as a time to decompress and take a look at the current state of their life. Positive changes (or at least intentions) follow. It’d be great if everyone acted immediately on their ambitions but since they don’t, I support having more starting times.

On top of that, I believe it’s nearly impossible to express enough gratitude. Every consciousness’s existence is remarkable and we shouldn’t take lightly our ability to experience thoughts, smells, sights, emotions, instincts, and everything else. A scheduled time isn’t necessary but I don’t see it hurting.
