Not a Choice Between I and Others

I say: “The moral action is whichever is best for me.”

Common interpretation: At the intersection to benefit myself or someone else, I choose myself.

Accurate conclusion, but it misses the point.

Egosim is only about doing whatever is best for me.

There are forks of action where I choose myself over others but my ethical position is not “Jackson over others”. My ethical position is “Jackson.”

Disagreement with Egosim is usually not concerned with love of Self, but with rejection of altruism. So I want to clarify.

If I act, I don’t think “I’m willing to hurt this person for my benefit”; I think “I’m doing what’s best for me.” Whether someone else will be harmed isn’t even on the radar.

It isn’t about hurting or not hurting others. It’s about choosing, every time, to express the most possible love for oneself.
