Change Your Stance and Become a Superhero

4-17-18 (Change Your Stance)

Try this:

  1. Stand up.
  2. Physically manifest the supreme version of yourself. If you were an absolute god of health, productivity, and success, how would you stand?
  3. Double the intensity of that expression.

You’re probably standing up tall with your arms back. You’re probably breathing more fully than you normally do. Your sternum is likely pointed up.

Stay like this for a few minutes and see how you feel. See if you can walk like a superhero for an entire day. If you ever stop, ask yourself, “How would I be standing if I was the ultimate [Your Name Here]?”

You might see people who walk with the highest self-esteem and think “I wish I was that confident, that focused, that direct.”

But here’s the reality. Physiology directly affects your psychological experience. If you maintain posture that screams I am a badass, you’re more likely to be a badass. If you maintain posture that screams I’m depressed and exhausted, you’re more likely to be depressed and exhausted.

Imagine getting in an argument but choosing to maintain a calm and centered position. How likely is it that you’ll lose control?

When you’re depressed, even moving can feel like running a marathon. You know that if you can just build some momentum, you might be able to get something done. When you feel this, analyze your posture and adopt your superhuman posture immediately.

Your physical positioning affects your mentality. The expression doesn’t always come after the experience. If you believe this, take on this challenge. Starting right now, sit, stand, and breathe like the ultimate version of you, forever.
